A'bunadh is the sherry bomb that taught America to love cask-strength Scotch — Aberlour's 100% Oloroso single malt at around 60% ABV, released in numbered batches since 1997, and The Whiskey Wash scored it 9 out of 10. The name is Gaelic for the original: James Fleming founded Aberlour in Speyside in 1879, and A'bunadh recreates a nineteenth-century style found in a time capsule at the distillery — matured entirely in Oloroso sherry butts, bottled at natural cask strength without chill filtration, each batch numbered and slightly different; Pernod Ricard owns the distillery, and the batches are past eighty. The Whiskey Wash: dried fruit, dates, marmalade, Christmas spice, dark chocolate, toffee, roasted coffee, and leather on the nose; fruitcake, ripe cherry, candied orange peel, dark chocolate, espresso, cinnamon, clove, and black pepper on a dense, oily palate; and a long, warming, richly spiced finish — it lives up to the reputation. Dramface and Bourbon & Banter both call it the benchmark sherried malt at the price. Honest note: the bottle every Scotch drinker goes through a phase with, and most come back to — for the sherry lover, the bourbon drinker crossing over, and the winter fireside; check your bottle for the batch number. Neat, with water to open it. A'bunadh, the original.Buy Aberlour A'Bunadh Scotch Whisky online with fast shipping right to your door.
